Project Background

Mazu: The Prequel is a theatrical-grade AI animated film set against the backdrop of traditional Chinese culture and maritime beliefs. It aims to combine cutting-edge AI generative technology with traditional animation aesthetics to create an animated work that offers both cultural depth and visual impact. The film will focus on Mazu’s legendary experiences before she became a deity, showing her growth from a mortal to the guardian deity of the sea. Blending Eastern mythology, historical and humanistic elements, and modern technology, it seeks to become a Chinese-style animated blockbuster with an international perspective.

At present, the project has completed a full script and is now recruiting production teams globally with solid production skills, extensive animation experience, and AI technology application capabilities to jointly advance the full-pipeline production of the film.

We are looking for a production team with the following core capabilities:

· Animation Production Experience: At least one complete animated feature film or long-form animated series production experience, and familiarity with the full animation pipeline (including character design, environment modeling, animation rigging, shot layout and camera staging, VFX compositing, final rendering, etc.).

· AI Technology Application Capability: Proficiency in mainstream AI animation generation tools (such as Runway, Pika, Kaiber, Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, etc.), the ability to combine AI technology to improve production efficiency and visual expressiveness, and practical cases of integrating AI with traditional animation workflows.

· Art Style Control: Capability in designing and expressing Eastern aesthetic styles, able to accurately convey the sacredness, solemnity, and humanistic warmth of Mazu culture; the visual style must meet theatrical film quality requirements.

· Complete Team Structure: A stable core team including but not limited to director, art director, animator, technical artist, VFX artist, sound designer, production management, and other roles, with the ability to run parallel multi-workstream production.

· Project Management Capability: A strict project schedule control and quality control system, able to deliver a high-quality final film according to theatrical film standards, and cooperate with investors and producers to complete reviews and revisions at each stage.

· Co-production: The team may participate in the project as a co-production partner, with credit rights and corresponding revenue-sharing rights.

· Outsourced Production: Undertake production tasks by module or across the full pipeline, with production fees paid as agreed in the contract.

· Technical Cooperation: If the team has unique technical advantages in AI animation generation, real-time rendering, virtual production, etc., technology equity participation or dedicated cooperation models can be discussed.
